Last admission to the Palace is typically 1 hour before closing; galleries start clearing 30 minutes before.
Early mornings, late afternoons and weekdays are calmer; spring and autumn are especially pleasant.
Book in advance — popular slots and tours sell out quickly.
From November to March, Palace entry is free on the first Sunday (reservation required); Gardens may still be paid on show days.
